About Us
The St. Margaret's Bay Regional Tourism Development Association is a registered not-for-profit Society incorporated in 1999.
Our mission is..... .. to foster the growth and development of a sustainable tourism industry in the St. Margaret's Bay region and to strengthen its position as a tourism destination, while maintaining the cultural and environmental integrity of the region and the lifestyle of the community.
The business of the association is conducted by a volunteer Board of Directors and five committees, whose efforts promote the region as an inviting destination that welcomes travellers from around the world. Peggy's Cove, described as the most photographed fishing village in the world, is just one of the picturesque and historic communities within the St. Margaret's Bay region which attracts almost one million visitors each year.
Our membership is comprised of approximately one hundred businesses - tourism operators and service suppliers - all of whom warmly welcome visitors to this very special part of the province.
Within the past two years, the Association has built two attractive new Visitor Information Centres, in Hubbards and Tantallon, key components of local tourism infrastructure. A user-friendly lap map is revised and published annually; it focuses on this region and lists all the member businesses. These area maps are available at the local Visitor Information Centres and from the membership, whose friendly services enhance the visitor's stay. The organization's major fundraiser each year is a well-attended auction and dinner event in April, the proceeds of which are used to help cover the cost of ongoing projects and to leverage other funding partnerships. A new marketing strategy has recently been developed, of which this upgraded website is one outcome. For all the support, from many sources, which has contributed to the success of these initiatives, the Association is deeply grateful.
