Paul Clarke: (902) 624-8551; ashtonhill60@hotmail.comPaul Clarke was born in 1944 and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His artistic talent was recognized at the age of fourteen when he won first prize in a national art contest sponsored by the Halifax Chronicle Herald.  During High School, he won several scholarships to attend the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.  His father, Fred Clarke, was a commercial artist, and Paul followed in his footsteps until 1968 when he graduated from Saint Mary's university and met his wife, Diana Dwyer.  In 1970, Paul attended an exhibition of Andrew Wyeth's work at the White House and was inspired to become a full-time landscape artist.  In the early nineties, he turned his attention to the caving and realistic painting of the birds of Nova Scotia, and since then his work has evolved into a combination of carved birds mounted on paintings of their natural habitat.
